Extremely annoyed that AI disappeared without any warning. It seems stupid to show half a series and stop. I can`t believe they didn`t tell viewers at the end of the last episode which they aired that it was being stopped whether this is permanent or not. I would stop watching 5 too but I have watched Home and Away for years and I also like the Hotel Inspector.

I could not believe American Idol was not coming on my Telly, I thought my Telly
was going wrong. I was very disappointed. Love Jennifer Lopez she is so lovely and the two male judges are good looking fellows. I enjoyed watching the three of
them, they did make me laugh a lot. I hope what ever was the problem that it can be sorted and the program will come back on again.Thank You

I agree! This doesn’t make sense, I would like to know the real reason the show was taken off air in the UK?
    Truly shocking move by 5!

I feel the same as everybody on this forum . It’s a disgrace to take it off, half way through the series . Ive always watched all of the american idols , which in my view is so much better than any talent shows that are shown on uk channels . Don’t know why they took it off ITV2 . I love all the judges , and the talent on the show are phenomenal . Why start something not see it through to the end very upset please please bring it back.

Have only just found this , like everyone else I thought I had gone mad , trying to find Idol on my tv. I’ve asked on FB , no one knew anything! How could they just axe a show that has produced the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Chris DAughtry, it’s outrageous . Come on Channel 5 get your act together and sort it out, Saturday tea time was not the best time to put it on when there are folk to feed. Personally I liked the Thurs/ fri spots. But I will watch it wherever you put it.

I heartily agree with all the previous comments. I thought I was going mad, having searched for it for the last couple of weeks. I live the live shows as it’s a chance to see contestants from previous years perform and the final is the best music show on T V. Come on channel 5, sort sort something out, we want to see the rest of this series.

Bloody furious!! How can channel 5 only show half a show, get us all hooked in and then leave us dangling!! I was so enjoying it!! Incredibly inconsiderate. Come on channel five, have a heart, let us follow our favourites onto the live shows, really rude not to!

Agree with all the comments that have been posted. I was really enjoying this series, the judges were brilliant. How inconsiderate to take it off mid series – very frustrating.

Contact details for channel 5 executives: http://about.channel5.com/programme-production/programme-management/contacts
Explain that sometimes they can and do make wrong decisions, then ask them to come on here and explain their thinking behind replacing a great family entertainment programme with something like “Police Interceptors” or “criminals caught on camera” …. Hopeless!

    Friday 21 March, 2014 at 6:44 PM

Have spent hours looking through every channel to see where American Idol has disappeared to. Have watched every series since it started. This year’s auditions were brilliant, no putting down the applicants like they do on our much inferior X factor . The judges are brilliant- love them all. So great stuff Channel 5 for spoiling my Saturday and Sunday night viewing. No even an explanation. Until I found this website I didn’t realise that so many uk viewers had been complaining . What’s the point in showing it after it has finished in America? Whoever is responsible for this diabolical decision should be sacked. Like the politicians you don’t listen to the man in the street. If you do decide to bring it back now try scheduling it at a more appropriate time and let us know beforehand. I am so annoyed and feel that the more people complain the better chance we might have of changing your mind. Disgruntled to say the least.

Like so many of the comments on this site, I have watched American Idol from the very start and just love this show so much. What has happened since the boys week, why has it been taken off UK TV??? Please, please bring the show back. I think this season, the judges have found the very best talent to date and would have so enjoyed seeing which artist would have been crowned American Idol 2014! Please return the show to British TV.

Absolutely furious with Channel 5!! I also emailed Ch5 but have had no response as yet, although not expecting one so will follow up with a call.
Likewise, shouted at my husband for screwing up the recording with rugby, as I couldn’t believe they would simply cut the series!! Unbelievable. We can watch via YouTube but its not the same. Very very disappointed :(
    Bring back Idol!!!

    Hi Folks

So having sent two emails to 5 with no response I decided to try another tactic! So, I’ve set up a new Facebook page to try demonstrate to Channel Five that there are more than just a handful of people who want the show back on our screens ASAP!

Like the page, send comments etc and perhaps 5 will listen – worth a bash!

    Cheers

Thought I was going mad when I couldn’t find American Idol on the TV schedules last week. Now I know I’m not alone. Can’t believe that 5* could be so stupid as to axe a programme part way through. It’s hardly going to endear their viewers. Get a grip!!

    Monday 17 March, 2014 at 7:20 PM

This is the ridiculous! AI is so much better than the UK shows! Best judging panel to date and the knobs axe it!

UK channels need to stop showing awful shows like The Only Way is Essex, Made in Chelsea etc and stop cancelling the decent US programmes…did the same with Teen Wolf as well!! Fuming is an understatement especially as I shouted at my family for deleting it off the planner!

    SORT IT OUT!!!!

Has there been an official announcement that’s its been axed?
I have watched this show since Day 1, all those years ago, How could they axe it so far into the series, its so cruel and so not fair. Does anyone know how you can get it on the internet, its my only hope.
Channel 5 get your act together and bring it back!

Way to go Channel 5. How to trash a program by killing it off mid-series. Do you really think people are going to “carry on where you left it” months later when all the usual publicity for the winners will have been announced worldwide? At least now I can delete all the channel 5, 5* etc. channels from my devices because I will not be watching again and that will be MY choice, not YOURS.

I’d love to be a surgeon performing an operation on the schedulers and executives in charge of making the decision to just stop showing this series half way through. I’d agree to operate on them, cut them open & start operating, then say, “nah, I’ve changed my mind, too bad if you’re somehow affected by my decision, but I’ve just lost interest…” and then just walk away from them on the operating table and leave them to their own devices.

That’s what they’ve done to us, & it’s despicable. If they had reservations, they shouldn’t have started showing the series in the first place. Guess what, I don’t trust you now to be finishing any of the other series you plan to air, so I won’t be starting to watch any of your tv series in future. Bye bye 5*, your service is 1*.

I have also emailed channel 5 & said I am disappointed with their scheduling as itv2 aired it 24-48 hrs after the US. Why bring it back in the summer, the final is in May??!!!! Not happy but guess I will watch via the internet.

It’s been hard enough finding the series on Channel 5 this year with such random viewing times and now it’s been dropped with no explanation just before the live shows? Shocking channel 5, get it sorted.

I’m so disappointed that American Idol has been axed. It was, however, placed in a terrible time-slot, which shows that Five either didn’t know what to do with the show or didn’t harbour much interest. Surely, if they broadcast the auditions, they must have invested in the rights to actually put American Idol on TV over here. So nothing really makes sense in most any respect, even if rating we’re poor. Because, surely, opportunity to better place the show were present with some thought about the scheduling; but I don’t even recall any ads or promos for this season throughout the Five network. I wonder if it’s too late for another channel to step in or at least show the final.
