The BBC have announced the location for this years Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony, the event is to be filmed at the new First Direct Arena, in Leeds.
The recently built venue which has a seating capacity of around 13,500, was first used in July, 2013 but later officially opened in September. There’s expected to be around 12,000 tickets for the show, being made available to the British public.

BBC’s SPOTY 2013 will be broadcast live from the Leeds Arena on BBC One and BBC One HD on Sunday, 15 December (the same night as the X Factor live final on ITV). The show which is scheduled to last over two hours, will be hosted by the trio of Clare Balding, Gary Lineker and Gabby Logan.
Tickets for the event go on sale from 9:00 AM on Friday 1 November, costing either £40, £50 or £60 plus possible service charges.
