This Sunday night on ITV sees the Nation’s Favourite Motown Song count down the UK’s 20 most loved Motown numbers.

Narrated by Craig Charles, this 90 minute music special will feature a blend of archive footage and fresh interviews with some of the genres biggest names. During the chart run down, we’ll hear from such legendary Motown singers as Martha Reeves and Smokey Robinson, plus members of The Supremes, The Jackson 5, the Four Tops and The Temptations.

The programme will also speak to some of the lesser known figures behind the hits, including the Detroit producers, musicians and songwriters. Singers John Newman, Dionne Warwick, Aloe Blacc, Michael Bolton, James Morrison and Gabrielle will also be on hand to discuss their love of Motown and how it’s influenced their own musical styles.

The Nation’s Favourite Motown Song top 20 will include such classics as Marvin Gaye’s ‘I Heard It Through The Grapevine’, The Temptations’ ‘Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone’ and ‘My Girl’, Martha and the Vandellas’ ‘Dancing in the Street’, The Jackson 5’s ‘I Want You back’, The Supremes ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’, Jimmy Ruffin’s ‘What Becomes of the Broken Hearted’, plus many more. The top 20 songs and results lineup has been decided based on votes from a representative panel of ITV viewers from across Britain. The show follows on from last years highly successful Nation’s Favourite Elvis Song.
