‘Scott & Bailey’ Series 4: Cast Begin Filming for 2014 Season

Filming has now begun for the new 2014 series of ITV’s hit detective drama series, Scott & Bailey. Actresses Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp will once again take on the roles of this popular crime-fighting duo, with season 4 scheduled to run for eight original episodes.

The 4th series looks set to see Janet and Rachel’s relationship tested sorely as each of them eye up the same promotion to Detective Sergeant.

Also returning to the shows cast list will be Amelia Bullmore in her role as the straight talking D.C.I. Gill Murray. Emmerdale’s Danny Miller returns as D.S. Rob Waddington, with actor Danny Webb (Poirot, Locke) joining the show as D.C. Chris Crowley.

Filming for the new series is underway as we speak, taking place at various locations in Manchester and Oldham. There’s currently no word at this early stage on a 2014 air date, but we’ll bring you more news on that when we get it.

UPDATE: ITV have now confirmed the new series will premiere at 9:00pm on Wednesday 10 September, 2014. End of update.

Speaking to ITV, their Director of Drama, Steve November said: “ITV Drama without Scott & Bailey would be unthinkable. Its reputation for quality storytelling and great characterisation precedes it and it’s become a firm favourite with ITV viewers.”

The Scott & Bailey television drama, which first aired in May of 2011, is based on an idea by Suranne and fellow cast member Sally Lindsay (Coronation Street), who plays her sister Alison. Sally will also be staring in the upcoming season.
