It’s now been confirmed that Simon Cowell will indeed be making his X Factor UK return in 2014. The music mogul will be rejoining the British judging lineup, after spending three years on the US panel.
You get the sense though that this is a somewhat reluctant return for the 54-year-old, which he’s been forced into by the shows significant decrease in viewers. Now being consistently outperformed by rival BBC series, Strictly Come Dancing.
Following these regular defeats in the TV ratings war, the father-to-be will have his work cut out with regards to restoring the X Factor to its former glory. Much of series 11’s success will no doubt rely on who Simon chooses to join him, on what will be a very different judging panel to 2013.
With his first child due to be born in February and his current Britain’s Got Talent commitments, Cowell has apparently chosen to live in London for the foreseeable future, leaving his role as an X Factor USA judge.
With The X Factor 2014 expected to start on ITV in September, will Simon’s return save the day, or has the British public simply seen enough?
