The History Channel have now released the UK air date and trailer for their new five-part reality series, The Curse of Oak Island.
Starting at 10:00pm on Wednesday 10 September, 2014, the show follows Michigan brothers Rick and Marty Lagina in their quest to discover this mysterious islands legendary treasure.
Here’s how the story goes:
Back in the late 18th century, a group of three teenagers found a strange, man-made hole on this small, wooded island off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. As the boys dug, they started uncovering many fascinating artefacts.
At this time, around the end of the piracy era, talk of hidden treasure was rampant and the trio’s discovery triggered a hunt which still runs to this day.
During this period the search has involved dozens of speculators and engineers, cost millions of dollars, and has even drawn in such famous names as Errol Flynn, John Wayne and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
In recent years the hunt had begun to fizzle out, but with Rick and Marty now on the scene, that’s all about to change.
