The BBC today confirmed they’ve commissioned Citizen Khan for a third series and also revealed the air date of the shows Christmas Special 2013.

Likely to hit our screens in mid-to-late 2014, the popular family sitcom will return to BBC One for 7 brand new 30 minute episodes. Once again starring creator and co-writer Adil Ray as Mr Khan.

In the meantime though, while we wait for this third season to be written and filmed, there’ll be a special Christmas episode to keep fans of the comedy going this winter. The show will be broadcast at 8.30pm on BBC One on Friday 20 December, 2013.

Don’t worry if you happen to miss the premiere though. As well as being available on iPlayer, the Christmas special will also be repeated at 11:35pm on BBC One, Monday the 23rd of December.

Head of BBC In-House Comedy, Mark Freeland stated: “We’re about to see what Christmas is like round at the Khan’s. It’s fantastic that once they’ve picked up the pieces from that, we’re going to see more of this hopelessly lovable family, led by the irrepressible Mr Khan.”
