England’s opening game of what looks set to be a very tough group, was originally scheduled to be played against fellow Europeans Italy at 2 o’clock in the morning UK time. As expected though, due to pressure from British and Italian television companies and possibly advertisers, the England vs Italy game was rescheduled to the more suitable European viewing time of 23:00 BST on 14 June.

As if the opposition wasn’t tough enough, the weather conditions will do England no favours either, with the tropical location of Manaus, Brazil boasting a massive 99% humidity.

The opening game of the Football World Cup will be the Group A match that see’s hosts Brazil play Croatia in Sao Paulo, at 9:00pm BST on Thursday, 12 June, 2014.
