Focusing on pregnancy, imminent birth, love, and the changing nature of relationships that a baby can bring, In The Club follows six woman and their families, who’ve gotten to know each other while attending a local parent craft class.

Katherine Parkinson. Being pregnant, playing pregnant must have brought a whole other dimension…
“I read these scripts, and that didn’t help my broodiness. It’s been a lovely job to be pregnant on. I’d just filmed the Honourable Woman, just before this, playing pregnant in that too.”
Hermione Norris. How was the experience of working with such a strong female cast?
“It was fantastic to work with such wonderful women. It really was a lovely bunch of brilliant actresses all playing such diverse characters; we had such a positive collective experience.”
Jill Halfpenny. How was the experience of working with such a strong female cast? How was it getting together with the cast to watch episode one together?
“Working with a strong female cast was a joy, and it was lovely to all get together to watch episode one at the screening. We worked hard, and we want everyone to love it.”
Hannah Midgley. How’s it been working with such an esteemed cast?
“Amazing – I’ve loved every minute of it and I’ve developed a really strong friendship with Katherine. It’s strange as it’s mainly been us, Jonathan and Tara and everyone else has been doing their own scenes. They are all so lovely, and really care about what you do. I feel like it’s gone so quickly, it seems to have just flown by.”

What’s the theme tune used in the BBC One advert/trailer?
The music used in the above trailer is the aptly titled 1963 song ‘Be My Baby’ by The Ronettes.
What is the intro music on the BBC One drama series In The Club, and who sings it?
The theme music to BBC’s In The Club is called ‘Wonderful World’ and it’s performed by former X Factor contestant, Rebecca Ferguson. The track, which was written by Toby Gad and Rebecca herself, comes from the 2013 album ‘Freedom’. At the time of writing this, the song is yet to be released as a single.

Ferguson originally found fame while competing on the 2010 series of The X Factor UK, where she eventually finished second to winner Matt Cardle. When does In the Club series 2 start on BBC One? – New 2015 Season Commissioned
It was announced on Thursday, the 18th of September 2014 that BBC One had indeed recommissioned Kay Mellor’s maternity-based drama In the Club, for a new second series.
When does series 2 of In the Club start?
Again set for a six-episode run, season 2 is scheduled to begin airing on BBC1 in 2015. We’ll bring you more news on In the Club’s return as and when it’s released. Filming is currently due to start back in Leeds in 2015, with the TV air date to be set for later in the year.
Given the show’s recent popularity, it’s no surprise to see the ladies returning to our screens next year. After premiering in August of 2014, the first series of In the Club managed to achieve impressive peak live figures of five million viewers. Not bad for a mid-week drama.
Speaking about the news of BBC One’s decision to renew, the programme’s writer Kay Mellor, said: “I’m absolutely delighted for Rollem to be commissioned to produce a second series of In the Club for BBC One. On a personal note, the whole experience from script to screen was such a positive one for me. It’s going to be a bit of a juggling process as I’d love to bring all the characters back, but I also want to introduce some new stories. One thing’s for sure, I can’t wait to start the whole process again.”
