Most famous for playing the character Jo Portman in fellow BBC Drama ‘Spooks’, season 3 of Silk sees actress Miranda Raison take up the role of Harriet Hammond.

The 33-year-old joins the Silk cast playing Shoe Lane’s new Practice Manager. Following a successful period of her career working for a human rights charity, Harriet sets up her stall in Chambers as someone who follows the rules to the letter. Episode 1 of 6 of the new series premieres in most regions at 9:00pm on Monday, 24 February on BBC One.
Since her time on Spooks, Miranda has appeared in a number of other UK TV shows, including Merlin, Death in Paradise, Vexed and Lewis.

The English actress has also been starring on stage in such productions as ‘Strangers on a Train’ and playing the title role in Howard Brenton’s ‘Anne Boleyn’.
BBC legal drama Silk quickly established itself as one of the broadcaster’s most compelling courtroom series, blending tense rivalries with nuanced storytelling. First airing in 2011, the show was created by renowned screenwriter Peter Moffat, himself a former barrister, which gave the series an authenticity that resonated with audiences and critics alike.
Starring Maxine Peake as Martha Costello QC and Rupert Penry-Jones as her ambitious colleague Clive Reader, Silk explored the high-pressure world of criminal law, the politics of chambers, and the personal sacrifices demanded of barristers striving for the coveted title of Queen’s Counsel.
Running for three seasons, the drama attracted consistently strong ratings on BBC One and later found a wider audience through streaming and international broadcasts. Its sharp dialogue, moral complexity, and standout performances made Silk not only a ratings success but also a valuable cultural insight into Britain’s legal profession, cementing its place among the BBC’s most acclaimed dramas of the decade.
