Speculation on who would be replacing Sir Bruce Forsyth in the Strictly Come Dancing 2014 presenting lineup ended today, as the BBC officially confirmed Claudia Winkleman will join Tess Daly as the new co-host.
Claudia is of course already a familiar face to Strictly viewers, having worked alongside Tess on the Sunday night results programme and appearing as stand in for Sir Bruce on the main show.
Winkleman’s 2014 promotion will see her performing Tess’s old job of conducting the post-dance interviews and getting reaction to judges’ scores. Tess meanwhile moves into Bruce’s role, introducing the couples, then getting the judges post-dance comments.
Speaking about today’s announcement, Claudia stated: “I have loved Strictly since the second it appeared on our screens and I am honoured and thrilled to now be part of the Saturday night team. Working alongside Tess is always fantastic and I can’t wait to spend the weekends with her, our amazing dancers and the greatest judging panel on the planet. Sir Bruce is a living legend and we’ll all miss him very much.”
So with the hosts now confirmed, now begins the speculation about who’ll be in the Strictly 2014 contestants lineup. More news on that in the coming months.
The new series of Strictly Come Dancing starts later this year on BBC One.
