What’s New?

Believe it or not, this year marks 10 years since the hit, business based reality series first appeared on the BBC. This time around, Lord Sugar, along with advisors Karren Brady and Nick Hewer, will be putting a lineup of 20 contestants through their paces, instead of the usual 16. With 10 men and 10 women chosen to make-up The Apprentice 2014 cast, but the series still lasting the standard 12 weeks, some episodes may now see two candidates fired in quick succession.

Series 10 Start Date

The air date and time for the new series of The Apprentice has been set for Tuesday 14 October 2014 at 9:00pm on BBC One. But wait, there’s more. Why kick-off the new season with just one episode when you can have two. Creating a week 1 double-header premiere, episode 2 will broadcast the following night, same time, same channel. Normally starting during the Spring, the premiere of this years series was held off until later in the year due to the BBC’s coverage of the football World Cup.

Name – Age, Location – Background.

The Women

Katie Bulmer-Cooke – 28, Sunderland – Fitness Entrepreneur. Katie works as a personal trainer, for which she has won a number of awards, including the 2013 Fit Pro UK fitness professional of the year.

Ella Jade Bitton – 23, Hertfordshire – Business management graduate. Since graduating university Ella has been working for the family interior design company, where she’s currently responsible for marketing strategy.

Roisin Hogan – 32, Dublin – Chartered Accountant. Roisin is now ready to fulfil her dream of setting-up her very own business.

Nurun Ahmed – 37, Peterborough – Fashion retailer and marketing officer. In addition to working full-time in her job as a marketing officer, Nurun also runs three small businesses of her own.

Bianca Miller – 25, London – Owner of a personal branding company. Bianca launched her own business ‘The Be Group’ in 2012, which made it into the 2013 Startups 100 list.

Pamela Uddin – 23, Dublin – Assistant brand manager. Pamela successfully graduated from university, achieving first class honours while also receiving a scholarship for her masters in International Business.

Jemma Bird – 26, Walsall – Operations manager. Jemma carries out a wide variety of roles within her own entertainment cabaret agency.

Lindsay Booth – 30, Leicestershire – Owner of a swimming academy. With 14 years experience as a swimming instructor, Lindsay now runs her very own academy.

Lauren Riley – 29, London – Solicitor. Lauren works as a solicitor, currently specialising in family law.

Sarah Dales – 32, London – Executive assistant. Despite currently working for a top financial organisation, Sarah is a qualified hypnotherapist who’s already established her own Harley Street practice.

The Men

Daniel Lassman – 27, Essex – Events company director. Daniel owns and runs his own events business, which amongst other things, organises pub quizzes.

James Hill – 26, Chesterfield – Owner of multiple businesses. Over the last few years, James has opened his own restaurant and dealt in the supply of pub fruit machines.

Sanjay Sood-Smith – 27, London – Banking senior manager. Sanjay is currently responsible for the online marketing strategy of three national banks.

Robert Goodwin – 25, London – Marketing manager. Employed by an international sports nutrition company, Robert takes care of the brands worldwide marketing campaigns.

Solomon Akhtar – 23, London – Technological entrepreneur. While also being an employee of a creative agency, Solomon also has his own technology company which operates in the field of social media.

Chiles Cartwright – 35, Shropshire – Company director. Chiles is the current owner of two companies: one which supplies building materials, plus a separate consultancy business.

Scott McCulloch – 25, East Kilbride – Clinical development strategist. Scott is responsible for the strategic partnerships of multiple companies within the field of clinical development.

Felipe Alviar-Baquero – 34, Kent – Solicitor. Columbia native Felipe works as a lawyer for an international law firm.

Steven Ugoalah – 29, London – Property manager and social worker. Since returning from the Arctic where he worked on community development projects, Steven has been managing a property portfolio while also setting-up his own social work consultancy.

Mark Wright – 24, London – Sales manager. Born in Australia, Mark is currently employed as a sales manager for an internet marketing consultancy.

Winners Prize

This years competition will again see the winning individual awarded a £250,000 cash injection into a new company which he or she will own 50% of, with Lord Sugar holding onto the rest. The winner will then run the business, with Sugar acting in a mentoring and advisory role.

Filming

Despite not airing until October, filming for this series of The Apprentice appeared to get underway in London during April 2014.
