What time and date does the GBBO 2014 start?
It was officially announced today that the air date and time for series 5 of The Great British Bake Off would be Wednesday, 6 August, 2014 at 8:00pm on BBC One.
Don’t forget that last bit either, with the reality baking show having apparently risen too much for its original home of BBC Two, the new series will now be airing over on BBC One this summer.
But before BBC Two has chance to feel too left out, the Beeb also revealed today that Two will now broadcasting the Bake Off’s brand new spin-off/sister show, The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice.

Hosted by Jo Brand, An Extra Slice will see the comedienne joined each week by a trio of celebrity Bake Off fans, as they take an in-depth look at the good, the bad and the soggy-bottomed from each week’s GBBO episode.
Speaking about the new show, Jo said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been asked to be part of An Extra Slice. As someone who obviously loves cakes but also, keeps a very strict eye on my figure and exercises assiduously to keep healthy, I hope I am a worthy candidate to represent the Borough Of Baking.”

This switching of channels and new sister show however seems to be the only major change for 2014, with the Bake Off again being hosted by the duo of Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, with judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood also returning. Let the baking begin!
