Where is the TV series Orphan Black filmed and set?

This popular science fiction series starring Tatiana Maslany, uses various filming locations in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Tough eagle-eyed viewers who are familiar with Toronto may spot the occasional city landmark and other clues to where the scenes are being shot, it appears the shows producers don’t wish to make things too obvious.

With regards to where Orphan Black is set, no specific city, or even country is ever definitively named as the series on screen home. It seems the shows makers, Temple Street Productions, have chosen to keep the location generic. So effectively the drama is set in an unnamed city, somewhere in North America. Though unlikely, this could of course change sometime in a future episode.

On the production side though, Orphan Black is very much Canadian, with Temple Street Productions based in Toronto and lead actress Tatiana having been born in the province of Saskatchewan.

The 10-part season 2 of Orphan Black begins airing in the UK on BBC Three at 10pm on Wednesday, 30 April, 2014.
