Where is Stargazing Live filmed? – BBC Film Locations

What location is BBC Stargazing Live 2014 filmed at?

As has been the case for all previous years, series 4 of SGL is being filmed live at Joderall Bank Observatory in Cheshire.

This is of course where the majority of the show is broadcast from. However, most episodes also include live link-ups to Liz Bonnin somewhere else in the world, as well as a number of prerecorded features with Dara O’Briain, Professor Brian Cox and Mark Thompson.

Joderall Bank which forms part of the University of Manchester’s Centre for Astrophysics, is the location for the Lovell Telescope. The large radio telescope whose construction was completed in 1957, can often be seen in the background during filming of Stargazing Live.

Host Brian Cox originally studied high energy particle physics nearby at the University of Manchester, during the late 90’s.
