Fortitude TV Series Filming and Set Locations.
Where is Fortitude filmed and where is the series supposed to be based?
Broadcast on Sky Atlantic in the UK and on Pivot TV in America, the drama series Fortitude was filmed in Reydarfjordur, Fjarðabyggð, Iceland. Filming for the original 12-part season took place in the East-Icelandic town from early to mid-2014.

Away from the freezing temperatures and snow-covered landscapes of Iceland, much of the interior shooting took place in the slightly warmer location of a British studio in London.
Though produced in Iceland and the UK, this 2015 psychological thriller is actually set in the fictional town of Fortitude, which in the show is located on the real-world Norwegian Arctic island of Spitsbergen. Making up part of northern Norway, Spitsbergen is the largest island of the Svalbard archipelago.
The cast of Fortitude features a number of actors more than familiar to British television viewers, including Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Michael Gambon (Harry Potter, Quirke, The Singing Detective) and Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife, Wolf Hall, Partners in Crime). Also heading the all-star line-up are Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing), Stanley Tucci (ER, The Hunger Games) and Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones, Hidden).
Believe it or not, Sky Atlantic are currently allowing anyone in the UK to watch the ENTIRE first episode online (all legit) on their official YouTube channel. Presumably Sky are so confident episode 1 will draw you in, you won’t be able to resist subscribing to view the whole series.
The shows plot sees this usually quite Arctic town shaken up by a disturbing murder. In order to help the investigation, an outside detective (Stanley Tucci) is flown in to assist the local Sheriff (Richard Dormer). But is DCI Morton’s role in solving this crime all it first appears?
To much anticipation, the opening episode of Fortitude aired on Sky Atlantic and Pivot on Thursday the 29th of January 2015. Rumour has it there could also be a season 2 of Fortitude on the way.
